CAROLINE HENDERSON DUO WITH NIKOLAJ HESS

Dinner at 6pm in the Greenhouse, concert at 8pm in the Assembly House

Experience Caroline Henderson in excellent company when she plays an extended series of duo concerts with pianist Nikolaj Hess in spring 2027.

Caroline Henderson and Nikolaj Hess have shared several successful collaborations on both the live and publishing front. Together they have played to full concert halls, just as year after year they fill the church room with sweet music for Caroline Henderson's popular Christmas concerts. About their upcoming duo concerts, Caroline Henderson says:

“I'm really looking forward to playing duo again and getting a little closer to the audience. More at eye level. More presence. More freedom. To be allowed to play duo with Nikolaj Hess is a gift. We can't wait to pluck gems out of my repertoire, find new songs and rediscover old ones.

And to not quite know in advance where the concert will end. Because that's one of the things I love about the duo format: the ability to let the setlist change from concert to concert. To feel the space, the crowd and the mood of the night in question and let that help determine what we play. That's where I think the music comes most alive. When you dare to let go of control and listen to each other — and to those in the room. For me, it's ultimately about getting in to the core of the music. To the presence, spontaneity and the very simple meeting of people through the music. Hope we see.”

Over the years, Caroline Henderson has marked herself as one of the strongest singers in recent Danish music history with a musical expression that draws inspiration from jazz, blues, pop and electronic tones. Most recently, in 2025 she released the critically acclaimed album Nectar and Ambrosia, and in 2026 she is current with her musical one-woman show My Life as She. Her CV offers everything from singer to actress on both the theatre stage and in television series, both at home and abroad.

Nikolaj Hess is an award-winning pianist, composer and internationally acclaimed jazz musician. With roots in jazz, classical music and Scandinavian folk music, he has created a distinctive musical expression that moves between Nordic jazz, post-bop, neo-classical music and global music traditions.
