FILM SCREENING: “The Patriarch” - documentary about Peter and the family
LilleSyd invites you to an exclusive screening of the documentary “The Patriarch” - on 7 April, the day before Peter's 70th birthday. The screening will be followed by questions and conversation with the actors and creators of the film;) There will also be a small snack before the screening.
Film producer Peter Aalbæk is a self-declared patriarch. Now he's being sent to therapy by his daughters -- but can he possibly change? A loving, funny and unforgiving portrait of an endangered species.
The world has been awakened, norms have shifted, and patriarchy is in disrepair. Peter Aalbæk is an old-fashioned man in a modern world — a ronkedor who refuses to keep up with the wokeism and identity politics of the time. The heyday of high cigar smoking has turned into low blood sugar, diabetes and dieting, but the daily glass of red wine is non-negotiable.
Now daughters Sigrid and Hedvig have sent their father to therapy. They call for presence, attention and responsibility. Peter comes across with irony, restlessness and a self-declaration as 'a right-wing, old cockfascist pig'. Feelings are hard, listening for even harder. The question is whether the therapy can teach Peter new tricks or whether he is forever relegated to the role of incorrigible patriarch.
